Ward Delimitation Map – 2015

In preparation for the 2015 Local Self-Government Elections in Kerala, the State Delimitation Commission revised the ward boundaries and published an updated ward map for Vannappuram Grama Panchayat. The delimitation process was carried out by considering factors such as population distribution, geographical characteristics, and administrative convenience.

According to the 2015 Ward Delimitation Map, Vannappuram Grama Panchayat was divided into the following 17 wards:

Key Features of the 2015 Ward Map

1. Road Network

The most prominent transportation corridor shown on the map is the Thodupuzha–Vannappuram–Chelachuvadu Road, which serves as the principal route connecting the western parts of the Panchayat with the eastern high-range regions. This road forms the backbone of the Panchayat’s transportation network.

2. Administrative and Social Institutions

The Vannappuram Town area serves as the administrative and service centre of the Panchayat. Major institutions marked on the map include:

  • Village Office
  • Community Health Centre (CHC)
  • S.N.M. High School
  • Various places of worship and public institutions

3. Topographical Features

The northeastern part of the Panchayat is characterized by forest areas and hill ranges associated with the Western Ghats.

4. Water Resources

The Kaliyar River, flowing along the southern boundary of the Panchayat, is the principal water resource of the region. Together with its tributary streams and rivulets, it plays a vital role in agriculture, drinking water supply, and ecological sustainability.

Significance of the Ward Delimitation

The 2015 ward delimitation was undertaken to ensure balanced population representation and improve administrative efficiency within the Panchayat. The revised ward structure facilitated more effective local governance and equitable development across the Panchayat area.

Subsequently, under the 2025 Delimitation Order, the number of wards in Vannappuram Grama Panchayat was increased from 17 to 19, reflecting demographic changes and the evolving administrative needs of the Panchayat.
