Grievance Redressal Mechanisms in Local Self-Government Institutions
The following are the major mechanisms available for addressing complaints related to Local Self-Government Institutions:
1. ⚖️ Ombudsman for Local Self-Government Institutions
- Deals with complaints relating to corruption, irregularities, abuse or misuse of power, and dereliction of duty in Local Self-Government Institutions.
- Complaints may be filed against elected representatives and officials.
- The Ombudsman is an authority appointed to examine and address such complaints.

2. 🏛️ Tribunal for Local Self-Government Institutions
- Provides a mechanism for filing appeals against certain decisions and orders of Local Self-Government Institutions.
- Matters relating to issues such as refusal of licences and building permits may be considered through the appropriate appeal process.

3. 💻 Chief Minister's Grievance Redressal System
CMO Portal
- Complaints relating to delays, difficulties, deficiencies in public services, and other grievances concerning government and Local Self-Government services may be submitted online.
- Complaints are forwarded to the concerned authorities for necessary action and redressal.

VACB – Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau
- Complaints relating to bribery, corruption, financial irregularities, and misuse or misappropriation of public funds may be reported.
- It is an important mechanism for addressing serious allegations of corruption.
